Dinkins Biological Consulting(DBC) is a small, woman-owned environmental consulting company located in east Tennessee specializing in the survey for and identification of aquatic and terrestrial organisms. In the last ten years, DBC has been awarded contracts to conduct ecological studies in the following states:

DBC owns and maintains a wide variety of freshwater and marine aquatic sampling equipment, including boats, skin and SCUBA equipment, fish shockers, and macroinvertebrate sampling devices. DBC has performed underwater surveys for freshwater mussels in large rivers across the Southeast, using multiple divers equipped with wireless underwater communication.

The DBC laboratory includes all necessary equipment to sort and identify freshwater, estuarine, and marine fish and benthic macroinvertebrate samples. DBC staff includes Barbara and Gerald Dinkins and several mid-level biologists and biological technicians.

DBC has worked alongside the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and the U.S. Geological Survey. DBC has also worked with several state agencies, including the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency,

North Carolina Game and Fish Commission, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
